Meet the panel
Event Host, Youth Director
As the self-proclaimed "resident hippie" of Boxcar Theatricals, Mykaela was determined to share her passion for sustainability in theatre this Earth Day. As a child of the ocean, theatre maker, and educator, this panel brings together so many important parts of her life. She is thrilled to share ideas about a greener future and introduce the Boxcar community to the rest of the brilliant minds on this panel.
Emma Stevens (she/her), based out of Seattle, WA, is a Marketing Specialist, Actor-on-Pause, and Nerd for Nature. A graduate of the University of Hawaii at Manoa with a Bachelors in Theatre and a Minor in Marine Sciences, she loves to use her passion for storytelling as a stage to advocate for environmental change. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, camping, rock climbing, and embracing all the PNW has to offer.
Career highlights include the West Coast premiere of In the Heights (Casa 0101 Theatre), the NY premiere of Four Clowns (La MaMa), God Looked Away, starring Al Pacino and Judith Light (Macha Theatre), A Singular They (Blank Theatre)-Stage Raw nomination, Transition (Lounge Theatre)-NAACP Award for Best Lighting, and Arrival & Departure (Fountain Theatre)-Broadway World Award for Best Lighting. Other productions include Into the Woods, as featured during ABC’s reality TV event, “Encore!”, and the KJAZZ Fall Benefit Concert (Wallis Annenberg). He is also a recurring Guest Artist at the Long Beach Playhouse where he has designed such classics as Fences, Death of a Salesman, Fiddler on the Roof, A Raisin in the Sun, Hair and Carabet- BroadwayWorld Design or the Decade Award. He is Head of Technical Theatre & Design at Cypress College and holds an MFA in Lighting from UCLA.
